I grew up in Ohio, went to college in Colorado and have spent the last 19 years living in seven different states as an Air Force Officer. I was a competitive swimmer growing up and got involved in triathlons in the early '90s. Along the way, I've competed in over forty triathlons (including several Armed Services Championships, the National Amateur Championships '96, the World Amateur Championships '96, and the Hawaiian Ironman '97), a handful of bicycle races/time trials, and twenty or so 5k/10k/marathon races.
In 1998 and 1999, I directed the San Antonio Duathlon, the San Antonio Triathlon, and two Canyon Lake Triathlons. We had approximately 300 entrants at each of the triathlons and raised money for National Childhood Cancer Foundation and Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of San Antonio. I still cycle a few times a week, but have been more involved with coaching kids soccer and swim team over the last five years. As my military career winds down over the next year or so, I plan on getting more involved with directing events again. I'll continue to direct the Iron Ride in the future if there's enough interest.
I selected the web domain BicycleBama.com becase it was available and easy to remember. This ride is not associated in any way with Bicycle Across Magnificent Alabama (BAMA) rides past, present, or future.
